Humminbird 798c | 798 Series
As part of the 700 series, the humminbird 798c
(visit the store and read customer reviews here) comes
standard equipped with a 5” color display and a High Definition 640×640 display for clear, detailed display – supported by a back LED and bonded glas screen for clear sight even in bright sunlight.
5″ enough to Identify the Fish?
The screen size of 5” in not particularly whopping; however, most concerns with the screen size only arise when it comes to the need to actually identifying fish. For most other uses, the display reaches good contrast and incredible color-depth. If identifying fish is a must-have for you – be it through down-imaging or side-imaging, then the larger size screens of either the 800 series, or the 900 series would be recommended. Side imaging / Down Imaging is achieved by the 455 kHz / (2) 86° @ -10db sonar.
The humminbird 798c has a 1,500 ft depth capability; DualBeam PLUS 150 ft. depth with Side-Imaging. Mounting of the 798 humminbird is a charm, as it comes prepared to be mounted in-dash or can be equipped with the Tilt – Swivel Quick Disconnect Mounting System for easy in – and out connectivity.
The 798 humminbird is fairly easy to adjust for e.g. its sensitivity so it allows for seeing rocks, weed beds, stumps, and of course fish.
The Specifications of the 798 humminbird include:
- 640 x 640 pixel display and the actual 798 humminbird
- External 16 channel GPS
- 445 Khz/180 degree Beam Side Imaging

- 20 degree & 60 degree Dual-Beam Sonar Coverage 200 Khz/20 degree & 83 Khz/60 degree Beams
Very useful are also the Dual Secure Digital Card Slots – the DSD cards are not included but come at a very low price these days, as well as the 3 soft-key preset buttons which allow you to store favorite settings of e.g. the view on the 798 hummingbird.
